This hotel clearly needs no introduction although I’ve visited Atlantis The Palm  a couple of times before this was the first time I actually stayed there. You almost feel sorry for all the other hotels as you drive up the winding road towards the huge entrance, you enter in an almost trance like state as the size of the thing pretty much overwhelmes you.

As with most places in Dubai the staff greet you with such warmth they make you feel as though you’re their  long lost family member and you’ve just arrived for the reunion party. Now I’ve been lucky enough to visit some beautiful places in my time but there’s something about this place that makes you NEVER WANT TO LEAVE, next time I’ll rememeber to pack my padlock and chains so I can chain myself to one of the sunloungers!

Pssst, guess who’s just hopped off the plane from Dubai and it looks like I’ve brought the sunshine back with me! Finally London!!!!

So, I’ve had to split this into two blog posts Part 1 and Part 2. It’s impossible to fit what Dubai has to offer into one post so I’ve tried my best to cram it into two. I’ve visited Dubai afew times now and I can honestly say it never disappoints, I think it’s a destination I’ll always return too. Whether you go with your partner, your family or with a group of friends Dubai has something to offer for everyone. The last time I visited Dubai was around this time three years ago, we stayed in the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort which is a truly beautiful hotel, the entire trip felt almost magical; cheesy but true. This time I hit Dubai with the girls; one week of sun, sand and shisha. We decided to split our stay into two hotels, first up was Dubai Marine Beach resort and Spa for four nights and second was The Atlantis Palm for three.

Now I know there are a small minority of people who think Dubai is just an overrated, overheated concrete jungle in the dessert with no depth or culture, to those people I say, ummm are you… ok? Wait, wait, Im kidding! I see where you’re coming from, I too love experiencing different cultures and seeing what nature has to offer but at the same time I also love luxury surroundings, exceptional service, beautiful weather and great entertainment. So if you’re one of the those few people who think they still need persuading well I’m up for the challenge, lets see if I manage to sway you!

I have a confession to make, I have never exercised in my life; apart from maybe the odd time I’ve ventured into a gym with one of my friends with the full intention of exercise but subsequently spent most of the time leaning against the gym equipment gossiping about men. (Hmmmm yep I know, not good!) Anyway I decided this year it was high time I started to incorporate some sort of exercise routine into my life, I mean I’m not getting any younger! (Well maybe in spirit!) So what do I do, settle in gently with a slow paced thighs, bums and tums class on a lazy Sunday afternoon? Nope I decide to go head first into a hardcore 30 day Bikram yoga challenge.

What in the actual f**********k!

Christ I mean look at my face, this was taken just before my first class and you can tell I’m already plotting ways to stop this even happening in my mind.
But wait stick around because this whole yoga thing actually ended up being a good idea, I know, fancy that!

The Magic Review

16 February, 2013

So about a month ago I was given a book called “The Magic” by Rhona Byrne. I already did a post about it here.
