What do you do, when you have two dodgy looking brown banna’s left in your kitchen which are on their absolute last legs. Bin em? No, now that would be wasteful! Make a banana smoothie? I mean I could but banana smoothies just seem abit meh to me.
Now lets have a think hmmmmm…. dum di dum di dum di dum daaaaaaaaah I know! You make banana cake of course, then you decide to add chocolate and god damn it those skanky looking brown banana’s have turned into a complete game changer! Oooosh! Banana cake tastes its best when the banana’s you use are old and brown looking. Result! I adapted this recipe (well basically added chocolate) from this website
- 125g butter
- 150g caster sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 very ripe bananas, mashed
- 190g self raising flour
- 60ml milk
First melt your butter and caster sugar in a pan
Then mash up your two banna’s and add them to the sugar and butter
Add the rest of your ingredients, your 1 egg beaten, the milk and sieve the flour into the mixture and mix together. Then add all of this to a loaf shaped cake tin.
Open your kitchen cupboard and find this! Do a little dance then break half of it off, melt the chocolate in the microwave for about 2 and a half minutes then add this to your cake tin, mix it all in and feel proud and thankful for chocolate.
Pop this in your oven on 170 C/325 FGasMark3 for about 35 minutes
You ready for me!??
This tasted so good! Better than I expected actually, the banna’s made is soft, gooey and delicious. Serve this warm with ice cream because, well do you need a reason?
